Hong Kong, 25 October 2006 – Nokia, the global mobility leader and a pioneer of the DVB-H technology for broadcast mobile TV, together with DVB-H Asia Pacific Alliance (DAPA) member companies, and with support from the Media Development Authority of Singapore, will be setting up a DVB-H technology workshop in Singapore. The workshop will give broadcasters and content owners an opportunity to get a better understanding of the business opportunities that broadcast mobile TV brings, as well as insights into areas like encoding, content protection and content formatting amongst others.
The first of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region, the workshop will be held during the Asia Media Festival in Singapore from 15 November to 1 December 2006, where regional content creators and key industry players will congregate in Singapore.
The workshop is a demonstration of Nokia’s continued investment in the DVB-H technology for broadcast mobile TV, as well as its support for the mainstream open industry standards that promotes interoperatbility and mobile television content protection.
“The DVB-H technology workshop in Singapore, timed with the Asia Media Festival, was developed with the intention to give broadcast industry professionals intensive hands-on exposure to the many dimensions of the technology and its advantages,” said Jawahar Kanjilal, Director, Multimedia Experiences, Asia Pacific, Nokia. “This will empower the content industry to maximize its business potential from the commercial launches of broadcast mobile TV services in the Asia Pacific region.”
The workshop will be held at the Singapore Management University (SMU) from 15 November to 1 December 2006. Broadcast industry professionals across the Asia-Pacific region are invited to contact ext-ai-bee.chua@nokia.com for more details about the DVB-H technology workshop.
